P90X Diary: Day 2

Date June 8, 2007

  • Energy: 4 out of 10
  • Soreness: 3 out of 10
  • Mood: 5 out of 10

So day two of P90X is drawing to a close and it?s been a real doosey. Plyometrics was . . . wow. Hard is a good word, but doesn?t quite encompass all of the painful majesty that was this workout. I?m very proud of myself for sticking with the whole routine and finishing it. I managed to pace myself very well and see it through to completion, though I sat one or two exercises out and modified some others; the important thing is that I did it to the best of my abilities. In other words, I totally brought it.

Soreness today hasn?t been too bad, but tomorrow may kill me. We?ll just have to wait and see. Energy has been a big problem today, however. I felt absolutely incredible after the Plyometrics, but I just crashed a few hours later after lunch. I managed to struggle back somehow but I really hope that doesn?t happen again because it killed my mood and made for a pretty difficult rest of the day. It was actually really scary how fast all my energy left me. I was feeling great one minute and the next I was literally on the verge of falling asleep standing up. Tomorrow I?ll try adding another small does of carbs in the afternoon and see if that doesn?t help me out a bit.

I never knew how much I missed carbs until they were gone. I was thinking today about adding a free day to the diet where I could eat some of the things that don?t fit into the nutrition plan one day out of the week. I think I will eventually because a lot of people have told me how well that type of plan worked for them, but not during the first Phase. Maybe after the first 30 days I?ll implement something like that, but right now is just way too early in the game for that.

The moral of today?s story is that I stared down what Tony calls ?The mother of all P90X workouts? and I?m quite proud of that fact.

Tomorrow is the Shoulders and Arms workout followed by the Ab Ripper X again. Should be fun.

Day Two Down. Eighty-Eight More To Go.
