P90X: Day 7

Date June 13, 2007

Today was interesting just because of the lack of a work out. It was weird not getting to turn on the television and see Tony Horton and the gang waiting for me. I could’ve opted to do the Stretch X routine, but decided against it so I could get done some yard work that I had been putting off all this week. That was a good hour worth of sweating so I don’t think I lost any time on my P90X trek.

Yesterday, day six of P90X, was excellent. Kenpo X was awesome and is probably the best work out of the pack. It’s got to be the most fun work out, if nothing else. At the beginning of the DVD Tony says a few words about it, saying that it’s the work out that will go by the fastest because you’ll be having too much fun to notice. And I’ll be damned if he wasn’t right.

So far the hardest part of the P90X fitness program is the nutrition plan. It’s hard to get all of the vegetables I need, considering I’m not a huge fan of veggies. I feel like I’m eating too much, but I still feel great so I guess only time will tell if I need to adjust anything on the diet. But today marks the end of the first week and so far, P90X and I are keeping up with each other just fine.

7 DAYS DOWN. 83 TO GO.

Daniel. Thanks for your information. I am on week two of the diet and workout routine. Because of work related knee injury last year I am struggling with the plyo workout and the yoga X. The Kenpo, as you said, is awesome. I am a aging (47years old) former athelete and my wife bought me the routine for Chrsitmas as an “adventure” in working out. So far I have lost about 8-10 pounds on the diet. The hardest thing with the diet is preparing all that food. I personally love the workouts. I have already seen some muscle gains in areas I never worked in the weightroom. I was a competitive powerlifter in my 20 and 30’s and am paying the price for a lot of mass that looks and feels fat. I will look into the creatine. Is it harmful to the kidneys? Thanks again. Mike

Mike, I’m thrilled to hear that you’re enjoying P90X. It’s an incredible workout program that, with the proper amount of focus and dedication, cannot fail to produce great results. I admit, preparing the diet is the most annoying part.

As for creatine, I always recommend it to anyone interested in gaining some definition and strength. Unless you have a preexisting kidney condition, there has never been any evidence of kidney damage. As always, it’s best to check with your doctor but all evidence points to creatine being perfectly safe.

I myself just started and on my 7th day and glad cus its just way to nice out. Same as you not into the StretchX too much. Walked 5kms instead. As for the diet doing my own thing lots of protein and veggies for sure. do a protein shake after each workout. Is there anything else you can suggest I might want to try or do to make the most of the program?
